There’s nothing quite like spending a crisp evening tucked inside the NIJI pop-up truck camper, the soft glow of the lights bouncing off the aluminum walls, the scent of hearty traditional American goulash simmering on the stove. This weekend, I jumped in the NIJI Camper for a proper overnight test — not just to enjoy a great camp meal, but also to answer some of your most-asked questions about this awesome little off-grid setup.
Cooking Traditional Goulash in the NIJI Pop-Up Camper
When the temperature starts to dip, nothing beats a bowl of goulash. I cooked mine right inside the NIJI Camper using my induction cooktop and cast-iron dutch oven, and it filled the camper with that nostalgic comfort-food aroma.
The goulash turned out perfect — rich, meaty, and full of flavor — proving once again that even when you’re off the grid, you can still eat like royalty. The Full Video is on my YouTube channel now, so be sure to check it out below!

Answering Common Questions About the NIJI Pop-Up Camper
After posting a few sneak peeks online, the questions came pouring in. So, here are a few of the most common ones I get:
🛻 How easy is it to set up?
Super quick — the pop-up mechanism is lightweight and smooth. It takes less than two minutes to raise the roof and have everything in place.
⚡ Is it truly off-grid capable?
Absolutely. With solar hookups, built-in insulation, Diesel Heater and plenty of space for a battery setup, the NIJI is designed for serious off-grid travel.
💨 The Weight Of This Camper?
The weight of the camper depends on the size of the truck bed and what all custom options you have added on to the camper. With the standard package that comes with the camper you’re looking at 1100 – 1200 lbs (estimate)
Testing the Electric Heater for Winter Camping
With a winter camping trip coming up, I decided to test out my new compact electric heater overnight inside the NIJI. It kept the camper surprisingly warm — but I did notice condensation build-up along the walls by morning.
That’s something I’ll be addressing before the deep-freeze season hits — possibly by adding Fans or a small dehumidifier. It’s all part of fine-tuning the setup for full four-season use.
