Every adventure has a beginning, and eventually, every adventure reaches its final chapter.

This past camping trip marked our last outing in our NIJI truck camper, and to be honest, it’s a little bittersweet.

Over the past several months, this little camper has taken us on some incredible adventures. We’ve camped through rain, snow, freezing temperatures, and beautiful summer evenings. We’ve cooked countless meals, tested gear, enjoyed campfires, and made memories that we’ll never forget.

Most importantly, this camper introduced us to an entirely new style of camping.

The Camper That Changed Everything

Before owning the NIJI, we had never experienced the freedom of a lightweight pop-up truck camper.

Being able to pull into almost any campsite, park, pop the roof up, and be relaxing around a campfire within minutes completely changed how we looked at camping. The ability to access places that larger RVs simply can’t reach opened up a whole new world for us.

For that, we’re genuinely grateful.

The NIJI camper showed us just how enjoyable truck camping can be, and it sparked a passion that continues to grow today.

It Wasn’t a Perfect Camper

With that said, no product is perfect, and throughout our ownership we discovered several things we would have liked to see improved.

These weren’t issues with the NIJI name itself—they were concerns we experienced with the manufacturing quality of the company that builds the campers supplied under the NIJI brand.

In our experience, it felt like the manufacturer placed a stronger emphasis on producing campers quickly rather than refining the overall quality and finishing details.

As we used the camper more extensively, we also encountered several build-quality and safety concerns that ultimately made us question whether it was the right long-term camper for us.

Every owner’s experience may be different, and this article reflects only our personal experience with the camper we owned.

Why We’re Moving On

When you’re investing in something that’s going to carry you and your family into remote locations, quality matters.

After spending months camping in the NIJI, we had a much better understanding of exactly what we wanted—and just as importantly, what we didn’t.

Instead of giving up on truck campers altogether, we fell even more in love with the concept.

We simply decided we wanted something built to a higher standard.

That’s why we’ve chosen to move into a fully custom truck camper built by Live In Wild.

Our new camper is completed and currently being shipped from overseas and should be arriving in just a few weeks, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Looking Ahead

One thing we’re especially looking forward to is seeing the difference that custom craftsmanship can make.

From improved construction techniques to greater attention to detail, we’re excited to experience what a premium, purpose-built camper can offer.

We’ll be documenting every step of the journey—from delivery day and the first walkthrough to real-world camping trips, detailed reviews, modifications, and long-term ownership updates.

If the new camper lives up to our expectations, we think it’s going to take our camping adventures to an entirely new level.

Although this chapter is coming to an end, we don’t regret starting it.

The NIJI camper gave us memories we’ll never forget.

It helped us discover a style of camping that perfectly fits our lifestyle.

It taught us what features matter most.

It also helped us recognize the importance of build quality, craftsmanship, and long-term reliability when choosing a camper.

Sometimes the first camper isn’t your forever camper—and that’s okay.

Sometimes it’s the one that teaches you what your forever camper should be.

As we say goodbye to the NIJI, we’re incredibly excited for what’s next.

The countdown is officially on until our custom GITT N GO camper arrives, and we can’t wait to bring you along for the journey.
